The Elm Grove Emergency Medical Service (EMS) was created by the Village of Elm Grove in 1975 as part of the Elm Grove Fire Department. The service is now an independent department providing Emergency Medical Services around the clock to residents, business employees, and visitors.

EMS is staffed by 24/7 by Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics, RNs, and an emergency room physician who serves as medical director. Elm Grove Police Officers are all certified as Emergency Medical Technicians and are often the first on scene.
